Food Review & Tim's Birthday @ Monte’s by Lyn in Bangsar Shopping Centre

Saturday, November 29, 2014

Tim Chew needs no introduction in the blogging industry here in KL. He's that dude with lots of chicks around all the time & still manages to KEEP IT REAL. Over the years, we've become really good friends & I owe it to him for the fun times I've had as a blogger. He had a hand in making me who I am today. Always pushing me to blog & party with him.

And so this year, this dear friend of mine turns...... Ok, I better not say. He'll probably start nagging at me like the uncle that he is. =P As usual, Tim turns any occasion into work including his own birthday! This time, we went to Monte's by Lyn in Bangsar Shopping Centre.

Let me share with you some of the great dishes available at Monte's

For starters, we had some amazing buttery escargots! I loved them! They tasted as good as the ones I had in Paris!
1/2 dozen of escargots - RM19.00

For snacking before the main meal, we had some nachos with guacamole and sour cream dip.

A choice of chicken/vegetarian with cheddar cheese on crispy corn tortilla chips – RM19.00

Tim had the oxtail soup which I thought was *ahem* cause I was once told that among the Malays, when a man needs extra 'energy' for sex, he drinks oxtail soup. (Don't know how true)
It was definitely robust & tasty.
Fresh Oxtail Soup – RM18.00

Scallops - food of the riches. One bite & you get fresh yummeh scallop drenched in sweet potato puree & taragon butter!Juicy Seared Sea Scallops (1/2 dozen) – RM39.00

The seafood salad portion is definitely for sharing. Has all things fresh including mini octopus, prawns, smoked salmon & caviar (atas food) Seafood Salad –  RM29.00
The smoked duck breast was delicious! I ate mostly the duck slices. =P
Smoked Duck Salad – RM28.00

The Ribeye steak was done to a perfect medium rare! Juicy & tender! (That's how you should have your steaks) You get a choice of black pepper sauce, brown sauce, mushroom sauce but honestly, it's good enough on it's own. Ribeye Steak – RM63.00

I was really happy with my order. The lamb shank was so tender and easy to bite. Definitely, a big thumbs up from me!
Braised Lamb Shank – RM35.00

As it was Tim's birthday, the owner Lyn had made some arrangements for the birthday dinner. We had funny party hats & bunny ears. I would show you a personalized menu which was designed especially for Tim but I don't know if Tim would be cool with publicizing it. =P

He got a special birthday cake too! Banana split with lots of balls & strawberries! I thought the personalized touch to the whole evening was very tasteful and definitely made it an extra special night for Tim.

Happy Birthday, Tim!

I don't usually blog anymore but when I do, it's an open letter to a LOVELY SILLY GIRL.

Friday, October 31, 2014
Because this is the only silly way she believes message will be received. I just want you to know that I know you've been coming around. It's just human nature and also this constant need of needing to be in the know. The Internet makes this easy. =)

So, I don't blog much anymore. I have been over-analytical over the entire blogging industry in Malaysia for the past 2 years at least. I'm speaking as a blogger who has been doing this for over 10 years now. How blogging back in the day was not what it is today.

To set the tone, I look down on every newbie blogger until they prove me otherwise. I have no qualms with them. If they turn out to be great bloggers with good ethics, hooray! Congrats, you've made it! But the intentions of new bloggers are questionable. It's obvious that the many few reasons that you choose to be a blogger is:-

I wanna be popular
I wanna get invites to events
I wanna get freebies
I wanna get paid

But there's also the noble ones who truly loves writing and almost all the time, you can tell the difference between a blogger who is looking for fame and the ones who truly writes. Let me break it down for you. In the real world out there, outside this box of virtual reality is also the general public's true opinion of bloggers. PR agencies and the clients themselves pass judgments too.

Most of the time, no one really likes working with bloggers. MOST OF THE TIME. Depending on who they look to engage and the quality of these bloggers. For PR agencies & clients, this is work. Not some playtime for kids.

Never had I thought that 'hey, being a blogger is so cool I get to do all this!'. It just so happen that I was smacked right in the middle when the blogging industry was picking up. Bloggers became the overnight BIG HIT!

I used to like being called a blogger but not as of the past 2 years when the title 'blogger' has been tainted by many rotten few. That is why I don't even bother calling myself a blogger anymore. I'm me. I'm Naomi. My name itself suffice and you know what? Being a blogger has taught me ONE THING. If you can walk in anywhere by using ONLY YOUR NAME and not hiding behind the title 'blogger', you know you're somebody.

So, yes... maybe you can say that I don't like to be called a blogger anymore. I don't like to labelled one because of the reputation the title entails. A fine example is one little blogger, Ms. Jo. I have a huge thing against defaming people but when I think someone deserves it. I'll gladly give them the lesson they need.

So, let me put up the most important piece of all. At least, Ms. Jo has learned a few good lessons about defaming and slandering to censor names on her blog. I shall return the favor but I cannot say for sure that nobody knows who she is by now for the idiotic stunt she pulled.

To read the whole story, click here - REAL STORY

That being said, I do find all the Facebook Blog Groups silly. Who is reading? Are you reading what's posted in the group or you just assume that someone will read yours? I have a very objective outlook on everything even myself that I don't even sugarcoat shit with myself.

Also, my friends actions and choices do not exactly reflect me nor do my actions and choices reflect them. What my friends do is entirely up to them. They are entitled to their opinions and choices. We may have conflicting opinions but we know how to accept those differences which the young ones are unable to understand yet.

I am from Kuching and I do deem anyone living there who has not live abroad or away from parents as sheltered. It's no joke. I used to be sheltered too but once you come out, you really understand what small town mentality means.

There's also a big difference between East and West Malaysia. You must live in your perfect little world if you think we are all the same. I am deeply offended that you would like to think we are the same. I worked hard to get to where I am for you to say, WE SAME? You must be kidding me. I must say though, I am greatly ashamed of YOU. You're a bad representation of Kuching. Clearly, you don't run with the right crowd in Kuching either. Don't ever leave Kuching and tell others you're from there. Very mensiasoikan.

While the silly Ms. Jo demands that I retract my words of threats to defame her, I'm laughing my pants off. She defame others and still wanna demand shitzz. Queen of Defamation? She can demand all she want. She's kinda forgetting who she's dealing with. WAIT. Correction: She doesn't know who she's dealing with.

But anyhoo, my parting words to Ms. Jo is ....

"You should know that in reality, you have just defamed yourself by blogging about MI and publicizing your blog posts on those silly Facebook Blog Groups. Guess how I found out you did that? Other bloggers saw it and told me. So, your goal of becoming famous is definitely getting there but only because all bloggers recognize your behavior and condemns it. Pretty soon, you're credibility will be close to nothing but a small town girl seeking for attention."

This has been fun! Thanks!
Just putting in time to practicing my skills of provoking. ;)

PS: My description may be harsh but it's painfully true. For that, I apologize if you feel the burn. I suggest you slap on some aloe vera gel on that burn. Cheers!

Saturday BBQ Buffet Dinner @ Palm Hill Cafe, Putrajaya Shangri-La

Friday, September 05, 2014

Recently, I went to try the special Saturday Night BBQ buffet dinner at Palm HIll Cafe, Putrajaya Shangri-La Hotel with MHB! It's been quite awhile since I last hung out with the girls. Life has just gotten pretty busy. I guess that's what growing up does to people.

Some background on Palm Hill Cafe. It serves both Malaysian and International cuisines and has open kitchen showcases where you can watch the chefs cook live.
The buffet line was amazing! You get the salad bar, western stuff, local cuisine, the cold appetizers, desserts and a BBQ line outside at the garden.

The cafe has a great ambience for a quiet dinner in. It's spacious, simple yet elegant. No having to squeeze around to get food at the buffet line. Lighting was good enough for me to at least look at my food for what it really looks like. =P

Some cold food as your appetizers? Blanched New Zealand Green Mussel, Steamed Tiger Prawns, Fresh Oysters, Smoked Salmon with assorted cheese, Grissini stick, Melba Toast, Focaccia Bread, Panini Bread and more! I love dishes that are refreshing! Great for salads. =P And then of course, you have your local dishes and western dishes here.

Indonesian Beef Curry with Potato and Green Chilli
Malay Cuisine: Beef & Chicken Satay served with Peanut Sauce, Rice Cake, Onion & Cucumber
Ketupat or what they call Rice Cake
Gratinated Potato with Cheese
Chicken Lasagna
Baked Eggplant with Spicy Tomato Sauce

Of course the highlight of the menu is definitely the BBQ buffet dinner. With the BBQ station right outside the restaurant, we were able to still sit comfortably indoors without having to come out smelling like BBQ! Though, you must know that getting your hands slightly dirty is part of the requirement here.

Some highlight on the BBQ dishes served at the cafe would be:
Grilled Cajun Beef with Mushroom & Capsicum
Grilled Squid with Lemon Marinade & Cherry Tomatoes
Grilled Chili Marinated Pomfret
Grilled Tiger Prawn with Pandan Flavour
Grilled Chicken Perchik (Kelantanese Style)
Grilled Turmeric Blue Crab
Grilled Chicken Tikka
Grilled Lamb Seekh Kebab
Chicken Rashmi Kebab
Chicken Malai Boti

The Chef working on the kebabs
Grilled Chicken Perchik (Kelantanese Style)
There's a whole lamb leg served too! With choices of naan, garlic naan & cheese naan. You can always spread on some hummus, baba ganoush, Tahini and other sauces.

Grilled Turmeric Blue Crab
More prawns!!
Definitely not to miss out on the dessert bar with fruits and cakes.
To name a few desserts served - Mocha Tiramise, Cheese Cake, Assorted Malay & Nyonya Kuih,  White Chocolate Panna Cotta, Strawberry Short Cake and many more

Super Club Experience @ H-Artistry Penang 2014

Wednesday, June 18, 2014
I've been invited to H-Artistry Penang 3 consecutive years in a row and year after year I always say that I seem to enjoy the H-Artistry in Penang better. Maybe cause I don't got my homies with me and I am more focused on just partying my ass off! Hoho! *Please excuse my ass. It's very small. Won't take up much space.* (Ok, too much rambling about a small ass...)

A few of us from MHB flew out to Penang on a Saturday morning to be a part of the super club experience. I call it dedication. =P I had to wake up at 5:30am that morning. Upon reaching Penang, we were taken to Equatorial Penang for the Meet & Greet Session with the artists.

Team MHB in Penang

Meet & Greet! It was a very light & easy session. Nothing too heavy for an early morning!

We sleepy looking faces in the morning with Ms. Julie!

One for the album! Adrienne & Ev with DJ Brooklyn!

After the Meet & Greet session, we all went straight back to our respective rooms to rest and prepare for the BIG NIGHT! 6 hours later, BOOM! We're at Penang International Sports Arena (PISA).

Chelsea & I. I broke the red & black dress code. =P
I got some black in there, though. Close enough! Hehe!

This was definitely different. Dancers on the bottle display shelves.
Got everybody's attention while in the Art of the Mixing Zone to get into the main party arena.

The ginormous main party arena at H-Artistry with super laser lights!
They really do know how to create a super club experience!

What I love about H-Artistry is that they mix it up when it comes to stage performances. You got the dancers, live bands and DJs. A mix of different genres all in 1 night. Great for peeps like me who has actually totally grown out of the EDM. I've been partying with EDM for over 3 years and it has become background music. Truly! The next time you go out partying, observe how not many are actually dancing.

I enjoyed the Paperplane Pursuit the most! They performed great tunes like "Everybody Wants Somebody" & "Higher" but I enjoyed their new song, "Feel Good" the most! "What If" was emo at the start but my bulu roma naik kao kao, k...  I was singing along and bobbing to their songs! Maybe the only one doing it right in front. LOL! Super fan girl!

The first collabo of the night was Paperplane Pursuit with H-Project DJ’s performing “Beats Of Your Love”.
Live & preset? =P Hehe!

Magic Power was super on the stage with lots of wild girls going nuts over them! I no understanding the Mandarin/Cantonese. No much feel. But from what I saw of all the young girls... They were jumping! Literally! I thought their song "Marksman" was fun. Hahaha! Their fans knew all the dance moves!

DJ Brooklyn was dropping it like it's hot! Cute little small chick on the deck up on the big main stage.
Mmm, EDM has reached it's expiry date with me though. I just don't move as much as I used to.
Getting old dy. *auntie mode*

Imma*Bleep*Youup took over with more EDM beats at least with a little twist of cartoon theme song remixes. On and off stage, they are a fun bunch with lots of great energy & good vibes.

Happy party people @ the Main Stage Arena

Gorgeous girls looking amazing all night!

Lucky them! Got a photo with the pretty barbie doll, DJ Brooklyn!

And of course, my girls and I!

Check out the super club experience @ H-Artistry Penang 2014!
You might just find yourself in the vid! Hehe! Spot me! Hehehe!

To enjoy a party properly, you should always drink responsibly and this was something that H-Artistry believes in as well and they were nice enough to provide subsidized taxis for party-goers to return home. The complimentary drinks stopped at 11.30, 1 hour and a half before the event ended to allow guests to unwind and a special chill-out zone within the venue was set up for party goers to relax after the party ended. A free-flow of mineral water was provided for everyone. Food and drink vendors were made available outside the event venue for guests to relax and recharge after the party. It was also good to see that the organisers had medical personnel on standby in case of any emergencies.
H-Artistry events are by-invite-only, and are open to non-Muslims aged 18 above. For more info on H-Artistry, head over to www.h-artistry.com.my
